Three years later this is still unanswered but since they have teased about it again, I think it will eventually be addressed. Maybe we'll.... Have to wait for splatoon 4 though...........

Amazing video! I know other stages don't all have references as clear as this one but I would love to see future videos like this, even if they're shorter or more focused on particular subjects rather than a whole stage.

This video is so awesome Rassicas I am a big train fan AND specifically Japanese trains and JR as a whole. I laughed when you said the comment of "the autistic kid is going to talk about trains" because I am autistic too and when Lemuria Hub was released I screamed in joy. I wish there was train modeled after shinkansen models my favorite is the e5 it is my favorite JR train AND train in general. Also it is lovely when interests collide like Splatoon and trains. But if you're a Japanese train fan this happens often with how many collaborations they do with JR and other Japanese train companies. Thank you for the informative video and I hope you had fun in your trip.

Partially related: I haven’t seen much of the top of the hammerhead bridge stage but it looks like there’s only a road up there, so how are the trains between Splatsville and Inkopolis connecting? There isn’t anything under the stage as well (not that I really expected there to be anything down there)

this is so awesome sauce!!!! i love how much detail splatoon maps have.., i really want to be a splatmap designer (or something similar) one day i think that would be a neat job to have some of the seventeen ice vending machines i've seen have sorbet-like sweets! only soda (tastes like ramune to me) and orange. i think they might be newer so maybe they're not available at many places?

GHHHHAAAAA I LOVE KYOTO STATION!!!!!! Trains are one of my most favorite things in the entire world, Kyoto station is my favorite station of all time, and THIS STAGE IS SO GOOOOD I LOVE IT also one of my nephews works at the Kyoto station Isetan! I adore that Nintendo basically just made a love letter to Kyoto Station in Splatoon!!!!! Edit: also 9:29 EEE HANKYU MENTIONED ITS MY FAVORITE TRAIN SYSTEM Edit 2: 14:30 I’d just like to add that 551 Horai is LITERALLY. EVERYWHERE. In Japan. You can find a 551 in basically every single department store basement ever (the basement is where Department stores sell food). You can also find them in most airports and yes, most major train stations.

I've been SORTA exploring it last week. By importing it into Blender

Increasingly I find that exploring the worldbuilding of Splatoon is more fun and interesting than actually playing the game. As a railfan/train otaku/foamer myself I've been intrigued by the many trains seen in the backgrounds of the other stages. The freight train above Snapper Canal, the train station in Inkopolis Plaza, the small diesel shunter in Bluefin Depot (iirc), and the roundhouses in the Thang rooms on the Deepsea Metro. I'd be interested and not surprised if they introduced a new battle stage that took place in a railway museum, probably based on the Kyoto Railway Museum or something. Also I'd totally love to own a model of the Splattrain in N scale
